Following the U.S. House and U.S. Senate resolution to end the federal government shutdown, the USDA directed states to pay November SNAP benefits. NC DHHS issued the balance of November benefits early Friday, November 14. With the partial payment issued November 7 and the balance payment issued November 14, recipients should have received the full November allotment on their EBT card. For some people, this means their SNAP benefits were issued early. For December, SNAP participants will receive their benefits on their usual schedule.
Please be sure and check your balance. You can do so by using the ebtEDGE app or by calling the number on the back of your EBT card. In addition to resources listed on the NCDHHS website, Yancey County DSS maintains a list of food resources. If you have a need, we encourage you to reach out to the agency at (828) 682-6148 and we will try to connect you with a resource. If you have any questions regarding your benefits, please call the agency.
