Frances Eileen Peterson, age 93 of the Clearmont Community, went Home to be with the Lord on Friday, December 19th, 2025, at her home. She was a daughter of the late Euphrates and Rosa Peterson McCourry. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 45 years, Earl Henry Peterson; a son, Kevin Dale Peterson along with three brothers and one sister.
Frances was a faithful member of Green Mountain Presbyterian Church for over 53 years. She served the Lord and her community with a gracious and giving heart. She was known for having a delicate green thumb. Frances could take a small seed and grow it into a radiant and elegant bloom. She was especially fond of the Christmas Cactus, African Violets and her Orchids. Her delicate hands and attention to detail spilled over into her other hobby, which was quilting. Over the years Frances created several unique and beautiful pieces for her family to treasure for a lifetime.
She also enjoyed shopping, one of her favorite stores being Hamricks. Above all Frances was a dedicated homemaker and her family was one of the most important aspects of her life. She cherished every moment spent with each of them.
Surviving is her children: Margaret Fee of Oklahoma City, OK, Terry Peterson (Marjorie) of Prescott Valley, AZ, Jill Hensley (Mack) of Burnsville, NC and Ricky Peterson also of Burnsville, NC; grandchildren: Bryan Peterson, Christy Greathouse, Calvin Peterson, Nicole Peterson, Mack T. Hensley and Taylor Bagwell; great-grandchildren: Alexis Peterson, Paige Buchanan, Rayne Holloway and Madeline Hensley; great-great-grandchildren: Coralyne, Daxton and Zayden Buchanan.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, December 29th, 2025 in the chapel of Yancey Funeral Services. Rev. Garland Honeycutt will be officiating. Burial will follow in the Fairview Cemetery off of Jacks Creek Road. The family will receive friends from 12 p.m. until 1 p.m. prior to the funeral services at the funeral home.
