Denise Ann Fortner Hilemon, age 66, of Micaville, received the most precious Christmas gift of all when she entered Heaven’s gates on Christmas Eve, Tuesday, December 24, 2025.
Denise was born on April 17, 1959, to Jeanetta Fortner and the late James Fortner. A devoted follower of Christ, Denise lived her life as a beautiful reflection of His love. She was the most loving pastor’s wife, a devoted and caring mother, a proud Nana, a cherished sister and daughter, and a loyal friend to all who knew her. Denise truly loved Jesus and her family, and she loved everyone she met—never knowing a stranger.
Denise owned and operated her own daycare business, where her deep love for children shone brightly. She adored every child placed in her care and treated them as her own. In her free time, she found joy in flowers, gardening, flea markets, and thrift stores. If her family wanted something, Denise would search tirelessly until she made it happen. She always placed the needs of others before her own, living a life of selflessness, generosity, and service. She will always be remembered by her sweet infectious smile that always lit up the room.
In addition to her mother, Jeanetta, left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 48½ years, Rev. Roger Hilemon; daughters: Tina Jones (Brian), Melissa Hilemon (Todd), LynnAnn Styles (Garrett), and Trisha Penland (Justin); grandchildren: Ry Paige, Callie Shea, Eli, and Fin; sisters, Deidra Tipton and Linda Brown; along with several nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
The family will receive friends from 1:30 p.m. until 3 p.m. on Sunday, January 4th at Victory Baptist Church. Funeral Services will follow at 3 p.m. with Pastor Barry Jenkins and Rev. Jeff Autrey officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to all the prayer warriors who lifted up fervent prayers during this time.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the funeral home to assist with expenses. Donations may be made by calling the funeral home or by visiting www.yanceyfuneralservice.com.
