Leonard Ray Staton, age 79, of Mountain View Road in Spruce Pine, passed away Wednesday, December 31, 2025 at Blue Ridge Regional Hospital in Spruce Pine.
Born on October 21, 1946 in Avery County, he was the son of the late Burnie and Edna McClellan Staton. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his sister; Dorothy Jean Ollis and his brothers; Russell, Ronald and Marshall Staton.
Leonard was a member of the Bethel Missionary Baptist Church. He was a true mountain man that loved walking in the woods, his dogs and watching birds. He loved his family and was particularly fond of his great nieces and nephews.
Left to cherish his memories are his nephews; Richard Staton and wife, Donna of Spruce Pine and Brian Staton of Spruce Pine, and other nieces and nephews.
