Over several weeks in the summer of 2025, SEARCH (Sustaining Essential and Rural Community Health Care), along with a group of volunteers from across the region, completed a Community Assessment for Public Health Emergency Response (CASPER) survey to gather storm impact data following Hurricane Helene. In collaboration with the Center for Disaster Research at the University of Delaware, SEARCH has produced a report on the results and analysis of this survey.
On Wednesday, February 11, the public is invited to a presentation and community discussion on this subject at the Burnsville Town Center from 8:00 -10:00am. (Registration and breakfast 8:00 – 8:30am; Program starts at 8:30am.) Leaders from the Mitchell and Yancey Long Term Recovery Groups will also speak. Breakfast will be provided.
