Dogwood Health Trust and Affiliated Monitors, Inc. announce details and dates for upcoming community meetings with the Independent Monitor (IM) in March. The meetings will share updates about the IM’s work and information about where community members can raise concerns and feedback about HCA Mission Health System (HCA).

As the IM, Affiliated Monitors is responsible for monitoring and evaluating HCA’s compliance with its commitments required by the 2019 Asset Purchase Agreement of the Mission Health System.

Each community meeting will review findings of the IM’s 2024 reporting year and share important details about the current process for the 2025 report. Affiliated Monitors will be joined by representatives from Dogwood Health Trust, HCA, the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services and the North Carolina Attorney General’s office. Meeting attendees will have the opportunity to submit questions or comments prior to each meeting to be shared with the IM and other organizations represented for follow-up.

The locations, dates and times will be:

Monday, March 9 (5:30 to 7 p.m.)

Transylvania County Library

Rogow Family Community Room

212 Gaston St., Brevard, NC 28712

Tuesday, March 10 (5:30 to 7 p.m.)

Western Carolina University at Biltmore Park (livestreamed)

Room 346, 28 Schenck Pkwy., Asheville, NC 28803

Attendees are asked to register in advance. Doors will open 30 minutes prior to each scheduled meeting. The Asheville meeting will also be livestreamed and a recording will be posted afterward.

“Beyond their monitoring and reporting role, Affiliated Monitors listens to and connects community members to information and helpful resources,” said Dr. Susan Mims, CEO of Dogwood Health Trust. “The perspectives and feedback that community members share, either through the IM’s website or in meetings, is essential to evaluating HCA’s compliance with the Asset Purchase Agreement. We are grateful for the community’s engagement throughout the year and to those who plan to attend the meetings in March.”

The community meetings are part of the IM’s broader, ongoing community engagement strategy. In late 2025, and so far in 2026, the IM has conducted outreach to key stakeholders, engaged with members of the health care community, and met with seller representatives from the six HCA hospital advisory boards.

In addition to the community meetings, the IM is actively scheduling one-on-one and small-group meetings during its March visit and another visit in May 2026. They welcome connections with civic groups, organizations and community members who want to share feedback about their experiences with HCA and the Mission Health System. If you would like to schedule a meeting outside of the community meetings above, please email Mission@AffiliatedMonitors.com.
