Gary Switzer, age 79, passed away suddenly at his home in Burnsville, North Carolina on Saturday, February 21, 2026.
Gary was born on May 9, 1946 in Parma, Ohio. He was the son of the late Donald Switzer and Jeanne Painting. In addition to his parents, Gary was also preceded in death by his brother Craig “Doc” Switzer.
After high school Gary joined the United States Navy, where he served honorably during the Vietnam War. Gary served 3 tours in Vietnam. Gary eventually settled down in Florida where he earned his CNA certification and went on to work for HPH Hospice until he retired.
Left to cherish his memory are his devoted wife of 26 years, Debbie; two daughters, Amanda Ison and her fiancé Jack of Green Mountain, NC, Samantha Kaylor and her husband Charlie of Rockville, MD; one granddaughter Delacy Runyon of Spring Hill, FL; one brother Lance Switzer of Cleveland, Ohio and several nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
