Booze & Lose It Campaign Underway

Law enforcement agencies across North Carolina are stepping up efforts right now as part of the annual “Booze It & Lose It” campaign aimed at cracking down on impaired driving.

The statewide enforcement initiative is underway through midnight Sunday, March 22, with increased patrols and sobriety checkpoints in place. Troopers with the State Highway Patrol, along with local officers, are actively watching for drivers under the influence.

Officials say the campaign comes in response to ongoing concerns about impaired driving. In 2025 alone, North Carolina recorded 343 alcohol-related deaths and another 91 tied to drugs.

Drivers are being urged to plan ahead—use a designated driver or arrange a ride—because the consequences of a DWI can be severe, including hefty fines, court costs, and possible jail time.

Authorities say the goal is simple: keep roads safe and prevent more lives from being lost.
