Spruce Pine Man Charged With Rape

McDowell County deputies have arrested and charged a Spruce Pine man with three counts of statutory rape of a child by an adult.  According to authorities, twenty-two year old Brandon Michael Jarrett, of Washburn Road in Spruce Pine, had a sexual relationship with a 12-year-old girl between 2018 and 2019. First Confirmed COVID-19 in Avery, Two More in Yancey

Toe River Health District announced two more confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Yancey County as well as the first confirmed case for Avery County. Avery County has been preparing for this reality and anticipated that our community would likely be impacted at some point.
