Commissioner Masters Completes Advanced Leadership Training

Primary Election Results

Mitchell County voters were choosing County Commissioners in the election yesterday. There were 7 names on the ballots, with the top 3 being elected. Dale Blevins was the top voter getter with 1,955 votes. Lee Ellis was second with 1,652 votes and incumbent chair Harley Masters was voted back into office with 1,367 votes. Yancey County Schools Battle of the Books

On Friday, February 23, Yancey County Schools hosted the first county-wide Battle of the Books in the Mountain Heritage High School auditorium. The battle involved a team of 12 students from each YCS elementary school.  In order to prepare for the battle, the students read 15 books over the course of several months. Mitchell Students Learn Hands On CPR
