New COVID-19 Numbers from Toe River Health District

The latest COVID-19 numbers for the Tri-County area, released by the Toe River Health District, show a continued decrease in new positive cases detected. During the period from Tuesday, October 4th through Sunday, October 10th  Mitchell County reported 33 new positive cases, Avery County saw new positive cases drop 45. The latest COVID-19 numbers for the Tri-County area, released by the Toe River Health District, show a decrease in new positive cases in Yancey and Avery Counties and a small increase in Mitchell County. Yancey County had 43 new positive cases detected; Mitchell County reported 40 and Avery County with 28. Mitchell County Schools Switch to Remote Learning for One Week

Mitchell County Schools will close for students beginning Monday August 30 through the Labor Day Holiday.  Remote learning will be in place Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday of this week, after a Teacher Workday already planned for Friday and the Labor Day Holiday Monday, the Mitchell County Schools will re open for in-person learning on Tuesday, September 7th.
