Easy Stroll Along Laurel River

June 9, 2021

Join the NC High Peaks Trail Association for an easy stroll along the Laurel River in Madison County on Wednesday, June 9.

This outing is open to the public but limited to 12 hikers, and is one of the less-challenging ventures the club offers in hopes of engaging folks who may be new to hiking or are trying to “get back into shape.” Although rocky, the trail is nearly level. The hike is an “out-and-back,” so hikers can turn around at any point.

Unvaccinated strollers should bring a mask and wear it whenever social distancing is impractical.

Meet at the trailhead parking lot at the intersection of US 25/70 and NC 208 at 10 a.m.  The trailhead can be found on Google Maps as the “Laurel Creek Trailhead.”  You are welcome to bring your leashed dog on the hike. No van is available, so you must provide your own transportation.

Bring water, snacks and hiking poles if you use them. Total hike distance will be up to four miles.

Participants should contact Hike Leader Carolyn Raichle at (407) 619-6136 to reserve a spot on the stroll or if they have any questions about the outing.

As always, check the High Peaks Facebook page or website, www.nchighpeaks.org, for last-minute changes due to weather.
