Our rivers are a beautiful and vital part of Yancey County. If you are a property owner in Yancey County along either Cane River or South Toe River help is being offered with removal of debris. Yancey County Soil & Water Conservation District and Yancey County Emergency Management have received funding for watershed restoration. If you would like to have brush piles, log jams or trees on your river property removed call Yancey County Emergency Management at 682-1887. The first part of this river restoration project is to identify the location of debris in the rivers using drones. Then they will employ contractors to remove and dispose of the debris. Finally they will fly drones to verify completion of the work. No work will be done on any property without the owner’s consent.
