Doris Duncan Sullins

Doris Duncan Sullins, age 89, of Pine Branch Road in Spruce Pine, passed away peacefully Tuesday, December 30, 2025 at her home.

Born on February 10, 1936 in Mitchell County, she was the daughter of the late Sam and Minnie Buchanan Duncan. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Roland Sullins, a grandson; Scott Franklin, her sisters; Glennie Sparks and Anna Buchanan, and her brothers; Dennis, Eugene, Donald and Adam Duncan.

Doris was a member of the Pine Branch Baptist Church. She taught Sunday School, Bible School, Bible Drill and sang in the choir. She loved to travel and planned many trips and activities for the senior members of Pine Branch Baptist Church. She also loved to go on trips with Bear Creek Baptist Church, the Mitchell Senior Center, and to cruise on The Big Red Boat. She enjoyed music and dancing at the Orchard at Altapass or anywhere there was a dance floor.

Left to cherish her memories are her daughters; Sarah Sullins of Spruce Pine, Susan Gardin and husband, Bryan of Spruce Pine and Sabra Sullins of Spruce Pine, her grandchildren; Regina Gardin, Amy Reece and husband, Donnie, Melissa Conner and husband, Allen and Greg Franklin, her great grandchildren; Alex May and wife, Macy, Tyler Gardin and Blake May and two great great grandchildren; Charlotte May and Maverick May and her sisters-in-law; Wanda Thomas and Maxine Duncan

Funeral services for Doris Sullins will be on Sunday, January 4, 2026 at 3:00 pm at Pine Branch Baptist Church with Rev’s Roger Wise and Jody Griffin officiating. The family will receive friends Sunday, January 4, 2026 from 2:00 pm until 3:00 pm at Pine Branch Baptist Church. Interment will be in the Pine Branch Baptist Church Cemetery.
