Tommy Dale Hall, age 71, of Burnsville passed away on Thursday, January 8th, 2026, at his residence. He was born in 1954 in Siler City, NC to the late Jessie and Ruby Hall. In addition to his parents, Tommy was also preceded in death by a sister, Joanne Hall Peele.
Tommy was always a crowd favorite, he was caring and sweet to everyone he met. He proudly served in US Army for four years. This was ultimately one of his biggest accomplishments in life. While serving in the army Tommy became a father, which was one of his next biggest accomplishments. As the years passed by and seasons changed he met his soul mate Kathi. They fell in love and were married for 32 years; sticking together through every challenge they faced. For many years he and Kathi traveled and had many adventures; eventually settling their roots and residing in the mountains of Burnsville. During their adventures Tommy became “Grandpa Tommy” by gaining three beautiful grandchildren, whom he loved more then life itself. Often, he would travel up to six hours in one day to spend time with them or attend their ball games.
When he was sitting still he loved watching NASCAR racing and the Carolina Tarheels. He never would admit to losing while playing Uno, which he played frequently with his wife and grandchildren. Tommy was known for his love of ice cream, m&m candy and potato chips to which he could easily make a meal of. Tommy had a huge heart for his friends and his “fur” children; specifically, Sadie, Ginny, Lucy and Doodle. As Tommy now resides in Heaven we know he is reunited with those he loved that passed before him, including all of his “extra children.” He will be missed immensely by many until we all are with him again.
His light and legacy remain in his loving wife, Kathleen “Kathi” Hall; a son, James Hall (Jody); three beloved grandchildren: Max, Alexis and Aidan Hall; his “fur” children: Sadie, Ginny, Lucy, Scrubby, Jack, Doodle, Toby and Roscoe; and sisters: Nora Smith (Wade) and Anita Holt (Garland).
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, January 15th, 2026 in the Chapel of Yancey funeral Services. Military Honors will be conducted by the Sgt. E.L. Randolph Chapter #57 D.A.V.
