Students enrolled in Mitchell High School’s CTE Health Science 2 Honors recently wrapped up several certifications, including Stop the Bleed and OSHA Healthcare.

During the Stop the Bleed Certification course students learned how to apply tourniquets and pack wounds that are considered life-threatening without quick intervention.

Students also had to complete an unannounced mock scenario where they treated a mass casualty situation involving several victims and wounds.

After learning the curriculum pertaining to healthcare safety and infection control procedures students completed an online OSHA safety course. The course provides training for entry-level workers on the recognition, avoidance, abatement, and prevention of safety and health hazards in workplaces, as well as information regarding workers’ rights and employer responsibilities. All students successfully received a US Department of Labor OSHA 10-Hour General Industry card—a credential that holds value for a lifetime.
