Nearly $60 million is on the way to Western North Carolina. This funding will support property acquisitions in the following North Carolina communities:
- $51.7 million for 142 damaged properties in Buncombe County.
- $2.4 million for 11 damaged properties in Haywood County.
- $2.4 million for 9 damaged properties in Mitchell County.
- $1.38 million for 3 damaged properties in Madison County.
I will keep pushing until every community in NC-11 has what is needed to rebuild and recover.
Chats with Chuck
Our team hosted “Chats with Chuck” in Sylva to hear from constituents about what is most important to them. These conversations guide the work I do in Washington.

Honoring Law Enforcement
During National Police Week, we honored the brave men and women in law enforcement who dedicate their lives to protecting us. From responding to emergencies to preventing crime, officers put their lives on the line every day to keep us safe.
In recognition of their service and sacrifice, we must support policies that strengthen public safety and uphold accountability in our justice system.
That’s why I backed the Cashless Bail Reporting Act, legislation that increases transparency in jurisdictions that have adopted cashless bail policies. The bill requires the Attorney General to publish a list of state and local governments that allow dangerous criminals to be released while awaiting trial, helping ensure accountability and better-informed policymaking.

Helping Growers Replant After Hurricane Helene
After Helene, I heard from orchardists and nursery operators across our district who were desperate to replant but couldn’t access the Tree Assistance Program (TAP). They faced one common obstacle: TAP required producers to cover costs upfront before receiving any reimbursement. After a disaster, that money simply wasn’t there.
I introduced the Advance TAP Payments Act to fix this, and it is now moving forward in the Farm Bill, helping growers across Western North Carolina access relief without paying out of pocket first.
