Edward Arthur “Eddie” Jones, age 57, of Newland, went to his Heavenly home on Thursday, May 16th, 2024 after a short battle with cancer.
A native of Avery County, he was a son of the late Joe Gary and Myrna Jones Banner.
Eddie enjoyed fishing, digging ginseng, and was a talented handyman who loved helping others. His greatest joys were climbing and cutting trees, but more than anything, he loved his family.
Surviving is his daughter, Lea Bodford (Bryan) of Newland; brother, Scott Jones (Melissa) of Morganton and a sister, Tammy Smith (Brent) of Morganton. Several nieces, nephews and other extended family also survive.
A private graveside service will be held at a later date in the Thompson and Jones Family Cemetery. Pastor Paul Cole will officiate.
