
The Mitchell wrestling teams traveled to Madison County a day early for the 2026 Western Highlands Conference Championships, and came away with some outstanding results.
Senior Bryson McFalls picked up his second Western Highland Conference title to lead the men’s team. Several other Mountaineer men brought home medals including:

Erris Crone- 3rd
Jaysin Erwin- 3rd
Wyatt Benfield- 4th
Tristan Phillips- 3rd
Daren Hise 3rd
On the women’s side the Lady Mountaineers dominated their competition, coming home with three conference champions and a runner up.
Katie Stowe picked up her second conference title in as many tries and Payton Buchanan earned her third consecutive WHC Title with a 7-0 win over Ella Thomas of Hendersonville. Sophie Robertson also earned her first title, while freshman Jayceemae Erwin finished 2nd. Overall the ladies finished 3rd in the team standings.
The Mountaineers will await the pairings for the dual team state playoffs this week, and then look ahead to regional competitions in two weeks.
