Nearly 260 million dollars in FEMA Public Assistance funding is headed to North Carolina to support Hurricane Helene recovery efforts, with a portion coming to Yancey County.
About 1-point-6 million dollars will go to Yancey County for waterway debris removal, while 9-point-4 million dollars is allocated to the North Carolina Department of Transportation for infrastructure repairs in the county.
Those projects include work on Bakers Creek Road, the Blue Rock Road Bridge, and several state routes damaged during the storm.
Officials say the funding is part of ongoing recovery efforts following Hurricane Helene, with additional assistance still available for residents who need help rebuilding.
Anyone needing recovery assistance is encouraged to contact FEMA support resources.
