Burnsville Water Updates

town2

The Town of Burnsville is in the midst of a major water system upgrade, with construction crews replacing century-old water lines along West Main Street and several nearby neighborhoods. Town officials say the pipes; some more than 100 years old, have reached the end of their service life and have increasingly caused breaks and leaks that strained Public Works crews and budgets.

For years, the cost of replacing the lines seemed out of reach, but funding from the American Rescue Act and a grant from the North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality finally made the long-planned improvements possible. After extensive engineering work, construction is now underway.

The project is expanding next to the Town Square, down East Main Street, and into multiple side streets. The full upgrade is expected to be completed this spring.

In the meantime, drivers should expect rough road conditions, damaged pavement, potential potholes, and shifting traffic patterns around the work zones. Officials urge motorists to slow down, use caution, and watch for workers and equipment.

Town leaders say these temporary inconveniences will lead to a safer and more reliable water system for the community, and they appreciate residents’ patience as the upgrades continue.
