Brenda Sue Webb

Brenda Sue Webb, age 77, of Hickory, went Home to be with her Lord on Friday, April 17, 2026, at UNC Health Caldwell Hospital.

A native of Yancey County, Brenda was the daughter of the late Rev. Charles C. Webb and Louise Hughes Webb. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved son, Timothy “Tim” Dale Byrd, and her brothers: Curtis Webb and Keith Webb.

Growing up as a preacher’s daughter, Brenda was blessed to be part of many church communities throughout her life. No matter where she worshiped, she had a special love for working with children and teenagers, always offering guidance, kindness, and encouragement.

Brenda was known for her generous heart and her love of cooking. She never wanted anyone to leave her home hungry and was especially famous for her homemade chicken and dumplings and her delicious peach cobbler. She took great joy in teaching her grandchildren how to cook, especially her cherished cornbread, passing down both recipes and memories.

She also made sure her grandchildren experienced the joy of life, creating special memories through vacations and weekend trips to places like Cherokee, Santa’s Land, Ghost Town, and many other fun destinations.

Brenda had a remarkable gift for gardening and flowers. With a true green thumb, her family often said that anything she touched would grow; a reflection of the care and love she poured into everything she did.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughters:  Kristin Lea Byrd and Sherea Lynn Krause (Michael); siblings:  Ann Whitson (Bill), Linda Roberts (Buck) and Martin Webb (Beth); grandchildren: Brandon Byrd (Betty), Eric Byrd, Brian Krause (Haley), Tyler Byrd (Kelsey), Payton Byrd (Mario), Autumn and Zane Byrd; great-grandchildren:  Haley, Addison, Brighton, Owen, Noah, Caroline, Evelyn, Emmett, Harvey, Jaxon, Amelia, August, Trevyn, Kendall, Julien, Parker and one special great-granddaughter on the way.  Several other extended family also survive.

A Funeral Service will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, April 26th at Yancey Funeral Services.  The family will receive friends from 2 until 3 p.m. prior to the services.  Graveside services will follow the services in the Fairview Cemetery at Horton Hill.

Brenda will be remembered for her deep faith, her nurturing spirit, and the love she gave so freely to her family and all who knew her. Memorial donations are requested to help with funeral services by visiting our website at www.yanceyfuneralservice.com.
