You Could Win the 2026 Opportunity Quilt

opp-quilt-2026

The time has arrived for the reveal of the new Opportunity Quilt made by members of the Mountain Piecemakers Quilt Guild. The beautiful quilt is 89 inches square in the album quilt style. The pattern is called “Haberdashery Sampler” by Nancy Rink Designs. You will be able to
view the quilt at local festivals and area quilt shops during the summer. Follow the articles in this paper each week to find where to see it.
The winner of the 2025 Quilt was Bill Howard, who is a veteran from Yancey County. Congratulations Mr. Howard! We thank all of the people who have supported our community service projects, Hero Quilts and Project Linus Quilts, through buying tickets for our annual
opportunity quilts. We will be distributing the quilts to the veterans this year privately. Due to constraints in our finances we will not be able to offer a public presentation on the Town Square this year.
The 2026 opportunity quilt drawing will be held at the December meeting of the Mountain Piecemakers Quilt Guild.
How to get a ticket you ask? Online order opportunity quilt tickets at
https://mpqg.wildapricot.org/opportunity-quilt or buy from your local quilt guild member.
Tickets will be available at our booth at the festivals in Yancey, Madison and Mitchell counties. The first festival will be June 20-21 at the Rhododendron festival in Bakersville. Mountain Piecemakers is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization that offers educational opportunities for those interested in quilting, alongside our community service projects.
