Linda Hollifield Franklin, age 75, of the Jonas Ridge Community, passed away peacefully on Mother’s Day, Sunday, May 11th, 2026 surrounded by her loving family. She was a daughter to the late Clarkston and Annie Belle Branch Hollifield. In addition to her parents, Linda was reunited with her siblings: Bette Hollifield Barrier, Clarence Hollifield, Shelby Hollifield, Virginia Waycaster, Ellie Zimmerman and Oaklee Zimmerman.
Linda was a graduate of East Yancey High School and began her professional career after moving to the Washington, D.C. area, working with the Library of Congress. She later took a position with Northern Virginia Community College. Returning home to North Carolina, Linda worked alongside her sister at Jonas Ridge Adult Care Facility until her retirement in August 2012.
Linda had a deep love for music and came from a remarkably gifted family of musicians. She especially enjoyed cheering on the North Carolina Tar Heels and the Dallas Cowboys. Above all else, family meant everything to Linda, and she treasured every moment spent with those she loved. She was affectionately known as “Grammy” by her beloved granddaughter, Haley, a title she carried with immense pride and love.
She will be remembered by those who loved her most including her son, Eric Franklin and his wife Dorinda; her granddaughter, Haley Franklin all of Boone; siblings: Sue Pickard (Bob) of Roxboro; Wanda Franklin of Advance and Junior Hollifield of Seven Mile Ridge; along with several nieces and nephews and other extended family, who also survive.
The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. until 3 p.m. on Sunday, May 24th, 2026 at Yancey Funeral Services. A private family graveside will follow in the Fairview Baptist Church Cemetery, located on Seven Mile Ridge.
