Garland Wheeler, age 72, of Feldspar Street in Spruce Pine, died Monday, January 29, 2018 at Blue Ridge Regional Hospital in Spruce Pine.
Born on March 11, 1945 in Mitchell County, he was the son of the late Howard Wheeler and Katherine Buchanan Wheeler. He attended the Berry Chapel Baptist Church. He was an avid Mitchell Mountaineer football fan and enjoyed fishing.
Left to cherish his memories are his sons; Adam Wheeler and wife, Michelle; Ricky Wheeler and wife, Rachel; and Luke Wheeler all of Spruce Pine; his daughter; Tina LaPlante and husband, David of Spruce Pine; his mother; Katherine B. Wheeler of Spruce Pine; his brothers; Johnny and Junior Wheeler both of Spruce Pine and Jerry Wheeler of Burnsville; his sisters; Shirley Pressnell; Judy Buchanan; and Diane Hoilman all of Spruce Pine; there are nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
The family respectfully requests the honor of your presence at the memorial service honoring the life of Garland Wheeler on Thursday, February 1, 2018 at 5:00 pm at the Berry Chapel Baptist Church with the Rev. Steve Williams and the Rev. Brent Duncan officiating. A time to support the family, share memories and receive friends will be on Thursday, February 1, 2018 from 4:00 pm until 5:00 pm at the church.
