The Classic Movie Club has selected “The Thin Man” for their January screening planned for Monday, January 28th at 7:00 pm at the Yancey Theatre. The Thin Man” is a 1934 pre-code comedy-mystery based on the novel by the same name by Dashiell Hammett who also gave us “The Maltese Falcon”. The film stars William Powell and Myrna Loy as Nick and Nora Charles.  Nick is a hard-drinking retired private detective, and Nora, his wife, is a wealthy heiress. It’s the playful interplay between these two that makes the movie special. The film was nominated for best picture and spawned five sequels and a radio and TV series. “The Thin Man” is truly a film in which there is never a dull moment. Everyone is invited to join with the Classic Movie Club for the showing of this great classic film.
