Edith Calloway, age 69 formerly of Newland, died Saturday, September 26, 2020 at the Memorial Campus of Mission Hospitals in Asheville.
Born on May 26, 1951 in Avery County, she was the daughter of the late Joe Bill and Leatha Marie Isaacs Calloway. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her brother; Jimmy Calloway and her sisters; Wilma Jean Calloway and Anna Pearl Reece.
Edith was a humble, thankful and caring person that never complained, was always smiling, and always content. She loved her family and extended family. She took great pride in her appearance and loved her jewelry. She enjoyed painting and doing crafts and loved her coffee and chewing gum.
Left to cherish her memories are her loving adopted family and extended family; Melissa and Donald Thomason and both of their families of Green Mountain; her daughter; Margaret Miller of Newland; her grandchildren; Brandy Calloway and Austin Calloway both of Newland; her great grandchildren; Tyrah, Vanessa, and Elaina; and her brothers; Clyde Mace Calloway and wife, Hazel of Newland and Jerome Calloway of Hickory.
A time to support the family, share memories, and receive friends will be on Thursday, October 1, 2020 from 3:00 pm until 4:00 pm in the Chapel of Webb Funeral Home. The funeral service will be on Thursday, October 1, 2020 at 4:00 pm in the Chapel of Webb Funeral Home with the Rev. Holt Whitson, Jr. officiating. Interment will be in the Big Meadows Baptist Church Cemetery.
