Vinson Norman Hensley

Vinson Norman Hensley, age 83, of the Bakers Creek Community, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, February 18th, 2024 at his home surrounded by his loving family.  A native of Yancey County, he was a son of the late Baxter and Milam Wilson Hensley.  He was also preceded in death by his sons: Vincent and James Hensley.  He was a member of Bakers Creek Baptist Church who loved his family, especially his children, grandchildren and his great-grandchildren.  He enjoyed being outdoors, gardening, hiking, watching westerns and his favorite movie was “O Brother How Art Thou”.

Surviving is his loving wife of 41 years, Regenia Elkins Hensley; daughters: Elizabeth Randazzo of Morganton, Eva Foxx (David) of Burnsville and Beth Winberry (Jay) of Asheville; son, James Hensley of Burnsville; grandchildren: Kelsie, Rebecca, Zachary, Salita, Sierra, Noah, Jordyn, Justin, Damian, Cory, Sam, Taylor, Cortney and Marina and 13 great-grandchildren.  Several nieces, nephews, cousins and many other extended family also survives.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, February 24th in the Chapel of Yancey Funeral Services.  Rev. Royce Ball will officiate.  The family will receive friends from 1 until 2 p.m. prior to the services at the funeral home.  Private burial will be in the Robinson Cemetery on Bakers Creek.
