Bobby Lee Henson, of Spruce Pine, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, April 2, 2024.
Born on May 29, 1940 in McDowell County, he was a son of the late James and Wilma Smith. He was also preceded in death by his late wife, Irene, and two brothers: Richard Smith and David Smith.
Bobby was a proud Navy Veteran, and retired as a maintenance supervisor from Blue Ridge Regional Hospital. He loved gardening, fishing, working outside in his yard, and tinkering at home on several of his many projects.
Surviving are his sisters: Jean Reithknecht of Watsonville, CA, Joyce Hall of Cleveland, OK, and Barbara Pendley and husband, Phillip, of Burnsville, NC; son, Bobby Leon Henson and fiancé, Lisa, of York, SC; step-son, Tony Pittman and wife, Laura, of Spruce Pine, NC; grandchildren: Leah Long and husband, Joshua, of Midland, NC, Robert Lee Henson and wife, Cami, of Charlotte, NC, Cole Pittman of Spruce Pine, NC, and Kyle Pittman of Spruce Pine, NC; three great-grandchildren, and many loving nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 12 noon until 1:00 pm on Monday, April 8, 2024 at Yancey Funeral Services. Funeral Service will follow in the chapel at 1:00 pm with Chaplain Larry Green officiating.
The family will hold a private burial with Military Honors conducted by the Sgt. E.L. Randolph Chapter #57 D.A.V.
