Elaine Griffith, age 60, of Red Hill, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, November 27th 2020 at her home surrounded by her family and friends. A native of the Ledger Community in Mitchell County, she was a daughter of Bernice Buchanan Hughes of Ledger and the late James Hughes, Jr. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Charles Miller.
Elaine was a member of Cloudland Baptist Church. She was a giving soul who loved to cook, visiting the beach, but mostly spending time with her family and her grandson, Roman.
Surviving is her loving husband of 16 years, Joe Griffith; daughter, Melanie Duncan and husband, Russell, of Spruce Pine; son, Nicholas Miller and wife, Sarah, of Tipton Hill; father-in-law, Scott Griffith of Tipton Hill; grandsons: Roman Miller and Jonathan Yelton and one she considered her grandson, Seth Woody; brother, Dennis Hughes and wife, Tina, of Spruce Pine and sisters: Deborah Street of Buladean and Barbara Black and husband, Brett of Asheboro. Several nieces, nephews and other extended family members also survive.
The family will receive friends from 1:30 until 2: 30 p.m. on Sunday, November 29th in the Chapel of Yancey Funeral Services. Funeral Services will be at 2:30 p.m. with Rev. Josh Miller and Rev. Doug Harrell officiating. Graveside services will follow in the Union Hill Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be: David Honeycutt, Jonathan Yelton, David Gouge, Doug Gouge, Cody Miller, Allen Wilson, Hudson Vaughn and Bailey Black
