Toe River Health District announced two more confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Yancey County as well as the first confirmed case for Avery County. Avery County has been preparing for this reality and anticipated that our community would likely be impacted at some point. As the cornavirus continues and testing becomes more common in our area it is important that people know that testing for the virus should be covered either through your private insurance or Medicare or if uninsured through the new government programs. DMV Grants Extension

The N.C. Division of Motor Vehicles has granted a five-month extension for more than two dozen DMV credentials. The extension includes driver licenses, learners permits, commercial driver licenses, vehicle registrations, special id cards and many others.
