To continue the celebration of Veteran’s Day the Classic Movie Club will screen seven-time academy award winner “Bridge On The River Kwai” Monday, November 26th at 7:00pm at the Yancey Theatre. Few WW-II films are as enduring as this 1957 David Lean epic which focuses more on characters, their duty and honor than battles. The story is set in the steaming jungles of Thailand and tells the plight of British prisoners of war who are forced, by the Imperial Japanese Army, to build a railroad bridge that will carry war supplies to the front in Burma. With an intense academy award winning performance by Alec Guinness the film features an international cast including William Holden and Jack Hawkins. Also on the bill is the final chapter of the 1939 serial “Daredevils Of The Red Circle”. Everyone is invited to join with the Classic Movie Club for the screening of this technicolor masterpiece.
