Free Workshop: Strategies for Managing Challenging Behaviors in Young Children

November 1, 2018 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm

A free workshop, Strategies for Managing Challenging Behaviors in Young Children, will be held on Thursday, November 1, 2018, at the First Presbyterian Church in Spruce Pine from 6:30pm to 8:30pm.

All Caregivers, Parents, Grandparents, Foster Parents, Childcare Providers, School Teachers/Staff, Law Enforcement Officers, Community Agencies, and Community Members from Yancey, Mitchell and Avery Counties are invited to attend. Certificates of Attendance will be available. Childcare will be available when registered by October 29th.

The workshop will cover strategies for managing behaviors such as aggression, defiance, crying and more. The presenter will share brain science which helps us understand how children need emotional support, especially when they have experienced chronic stress and trauma. We will learn how to help them identify the emotions they are experiencing and practice calming strategies. We will also learn positive intervention techniques to support relationship building between caregivers and children.

If you are interested in attending, please contact Teresa Emory with Parent to Parent Family Support Network, by Monday, October 29th at 828-284-2287 or emorytd@appstate.edu to register. Please notify Teresa when you register if you need on-site childcare during the workshop.
