Penland School of Craft Receives Grant

Penland School of Craft has received a $7850 grant from the Blue Ridge National Heritage Area Partnership for a historical timeline in the Penland Gallery and Visitors Center and for signage on the campus. A graphic timeline of Penland School’s history is a popular feature of a display in the Visitors Center Gallery. This grant will allow them to revise and update the timeline and put Penland’s  history into the context of the American craft movement. The grant will also help fund a new sign at the entrance which will be made of CorTen steel and stainless steel by former Penland resident artist Daniel Marinelli. The Blue Ridge National Heritage Area Partnership offers matching grants to help provide funding that preserves, protects and promotes the historical culture and natural heritage of Western North Carolina while stimulating the economy.
