The latest COVID-19 numbers for the Tri-County area, released by the Toe River Health District, show the detection of new positive cases continuing to increase each week in the Tri-County area just as it is across the country.
During the period from January 10th through yesterday, January 16th, Yancey County had 295 new positive cases detected, compared to 222 the previous week. Mitchell County reported 300 new positive cases last week and 161 the week before. Avery County saw 242 new positive cases compared to 188 the week before.
Mitchell County reported 1 more death attributed to COVID last week. The number of COVID deaths in the Tri County area since August 1st is 60.
