Mitchell County Schools Announces Principal Assignments

Mitchell County Schools has named principals for the 2024-25 school year in preparation for the opening of Mitchell Elementary School and Mitchell Middle School.

Mitchell Elementary School (Grades 3-5)- Mrs. Kristie Autrey will serve as Principal of Mitchell Elementary School.  She is currently the principal of Deyton Elementary School.  Mrs. Autrey has 24 years of experience in education and has held the roles as Teacher, Reading Specialist, Curriculum Director, and Principal.

Mitchell Middle School (Grades 6–8)- Mr. Jason Hall will serve as Principal of Mitchell Middle School.  Mr. Hall comes from Greenlee Primary, where he has served as principal for the past 5 years. Mr. Hall has 12 years of experience in education and has held the roles of Teacher Assistant, Teacher, and Principal.

Mitchell Elementary/Mitchell Middle- Mr. Colby Calhoun will serve as Assistant Principal of Mitchell Elementary and Mitchell Middle.  Mr. Calhoun comes from Gouge Elementary School, where he has served as principal for the past 18 years.   Mr. Calhoun has 31 years of experience in education and has held the roles of Teacher, Assistant Principal, and Principal.

Gouge Elementary School (K-2)- Ms. Amber Young will serve as Principal of Gouge Elementary School.  Ms. Young comes from Bowman Middle School, where she has served as principal for the past 3 years.  Ms.Young has 17 years of experience in education and has held the roles of Teacher and Principal.

Greenlee Primary School (K-2)- Mr. Rodney Smith will serve as Principal of Greenlee Primary School.  Mr. Smith comes from Harris Middle School, where he has served as principal for the past 2 years.  Mr. Smith has 13 years of experience in education and has held the role of Teacher, Career Development Coordinator, Assistant Principal, and Principal.

Mitchell High School will continue to be led by Mr. Cole Chester, Principal and Dr. Susan Hawkins, Assistant Principal.

Mrs. Stacie Burleson will continue as Principal of Mayland Early College High School.
