Mitchell County Tourism Board Meet and Greet with STR Owners

The Mitchell County Tourism Board is excited to announce a special meet and greet event with Short Term Rental (STR) owners in Mitchell County, scheduled for May 23, 2024. This event aims to foster closer collaboration between the tourism board and the local short-term rental community to enhance visitor experiences and promote sustainable tourism practices.

Scheduled to take place in both Spruce Pine and Bakersville, the meet and greet will provide an opportunity for STR owners to connect with members of the tourism board, share insights, and discuss strategies to collectively promote Mitchell County as a premier tourist destination. Attendees can expect engaging discussions, networking opportunities, and valuable insights into the latest tourism trends and best practices.

“We are thrilled to host this meet and greet event, as it underscores our commitment to building strong partnerships within the local tourism ecosystem,” said Kelly Jones, Director of the TDA.” Short term rentals play a crucial role in providing unique accommodations and enriching experiences for visitors to our county. By collaborating closely with STR owners, we aim to amplify our promotional efforts and ensure that Mitchell County remains a top choice for travelers seeking authentic and memorable experiences.”

The event will feature presentations from key stakeholders, light refreshments, and a Q&A session designed to address common questions about occupancy tax and the recent increase from 3% to 6%. Attendees will also have the chance to learn about the tourism board’s upcoming initiatives and marketing campaigns aimed at driving visitation to Mitchell County.

The meet and greet will take place on May 23rd at 9:00 am until 11:00 am at the Bakersville Creekwalk Pavilion and then 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm in Spruce Pine at the Spruce Pine Pocket Park on Lower Street. Both events will be the same, but just different times and locations to be accommodating. Light refreshments will be provided.

The Mitchell County Tourism Board encourages all short term rental owners in the area to RSVP for this exclusive event and join in the conversation about shaping the future of tourism in Mitchell County.
