David Randal Wilson, age 58, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, April 14th, 2024. A native of Mitchell County, he was a son of the late John and Madge Burleson Wilson. He was also preceded in death by a son, Kameron Wayne Wilson, who passed away in 2020 and grandparents: Odie and Ada Burleson and George and Bertie Wilson. David enjoyed fishing, watching Walker Texas Ranger, telling stories and going to town. He was a bus driver for many years and loved his school children, he remembered each of their names even after he retired. He especially loved his grandchildren.
Surviving is his wife of 34 years, Ann Davis Wilson, of Spruce Pine; sons: Kaelen Wilson and wife, Shannah, of Penland and Kurtis Wilson of Spruce Pine; grandchildren: Anthony, Theodore and Braylan; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Cleo and Rebecca Davis of Penland; uncle, Cecil Burleson of Burnsville and close cousins: Kenneth and David Huskins. Several other extended family and numerous friends also survive.
Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. on Saturday, April 20th in the chapel of Yancey Funeral Services. Rev. Bruce Cannon and Rev. Kent Murphy will officiate. The family will receive friends from 3 until 4 p.m. prior to the services at the funeral home. A private burial will be held at a later date.
