The Mitchell Chamber of Commerce reports that their Chamber Outdoor Recreation Taskforce member Tim Kearns says the new Mountain Bike Pump Track is almost ready to open to the public. The new mountain bike pump track at Brad Ragan Park in Spruce Pine, is the first public mountain bike area in Mitchell County. The Taskforce hopes to see more trails developed in the county as well as other outdoor recreation offerings for the citizens. The Outdoor Recreation Taskforce is currently working with Appalachian Regional Commission on a county wide outdoor recreation strategic plan.
The official opening of the new pump track is planned for May.
