The latest COVID-19 numbers for the Tri-County area, released by the Toe River Health District, show the detection of in new positive cases on the increase in the Tri-County area just as it is across the country.
During the period from December 27th through yesterday, January 3rd, Yancey County had 172 new positive cases detected, compared to 143 the previous week. Mitchell County reported 106 new positive cases last week and 44 the week before. Avery County saw 153 new positive cases compared to 94 the week before.
Mitchell and Yancey Counties each had 2 more deaths attributed to COVID last week.. The number of COVID deaths in the Tri County area since August 1st is 54.
