Hazel Tolley Grindstaff age 85 of Spruce Pine, passed away Saturday March 2, 2024, at the Blue Ridge Regional Hospital in Spruce Pine surrounded by her loved ones. She was a daughter of the late John and Ida Tolley. She’s preceded in death by her husband David Grindstaff and two sisters, Carolyn Cornett and Mildred Slagle.
Hazel was a very hard worker, working full-time until just a few short years ago. She loved spending time with her family, attending church, her little dog Prince and working her puzzle books.
Left to cherish her memories is her children, J.R. Hughes (Trish) of Spruce Pine, Kenny Hughes (Carla) of Frank, Pam McMahan (Kirk) of Spruce Pine, six grandkids, Amanda Nance, Jamie Hughes, Jonathon Hughes, Jessica Hollifield, David Hughes and Ashley Garland, nine great grandkids, Hayden Nance, Lucas, Logan, Landon and Lexi Hughes, Autumn and Asher Garland, Parker and Kolten Hollifield, and two sisters, Betty Hughes and Margret Yelton.
A memorial service for Mrs. Grindstaff will be held at 12:00 noon Saturday March 9, 2024, in the chapel of Webb Funeral Home with the Revs. Chris Nance and Kagan Young officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial and inurnment will follow in the Big Crabtree Baptist Church cemetery.
