Mary Cook Hollifield, age 82, of Spruce Pine, went Home to be with her Lord on Thursday, April 18th, 2024. A native of Mitchell County, she was a daughter of the late Frank and Edith Willis Cook. She is also preceded in death by a son, Victor Hollifield; a granddaughter, Jennifer Wyatt; a brother, Charles Cook; sister-in-law, Marie Cook; and a brother-in-law, Lee Buchanan.
Mary was a dedicated employee of Baxter Laboratories for 23 years. She attended Bear Creek Baptist Church and loved her Lord and Savior. She was married to the love of her life, John Hollifield, for 65 years. The most enjoyment she got from life was spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was the most wonderful mother on earth and will be dearly missed by all who cherished and loved her.
In addition to her husband, John Hollifield, she is survived by three sons: Dana Hollifield (Valerie), Van Hollifield (Leticia) and Mark Hollifield (Lorie); eight grandchildren: Jessica Hollifield, Justina Hollifield, Jacquline Wilburn (David), Misher Hollifield (Morgan), Bryant Hollifield (Theresa), Regan Mimken (Jesse), Seth Hollifield (Taylor) and Daniel Hollifield (Cassidy); great-grandchildren: Jacie Wyatt, Kaison Hollifield, Jordyn Smith, Corbin Mullinax, Kenedy Evans, Hendrix Mimken, Carolina Mimken, Everett Hollifield, Emma Hollifield, Jett Hollifield, Kai Hollifield and Roan Hollifield; three brothers: Jack Cook, Jerry Cook and Jim Cook (Judy); a sister, Betty Buchanan. Several nieces and nephews survive her as well. SHE LOVED HER FAMILY!
Per her wishes, a private service will be held by the family.
