AMY Library Receives Grant For Podcast

A $12,000 grant has been awarded to Avery-Mitchell-Yancey Library System. The funding, provided by the NC Humanities Council through NC CARES will be used to develop a podcast that will preserve the stories of experiences of people during the COVID-19 pandemic. According to AMY Regional Library Director, Amber Westall, “The podcast itself will allow participants to express their frustrations and fears, along with feelings of isolation and loneliness by reflecting on their personal experiences.” The goal is through publication of these experiences others can hear them and connect to their own circumstances, providing an enhanced sense of community during this time of isolation. It will also provide preservation of these stories for historical significance in years to come.
