A former Mitchell County man has been missing since he was dropped off two weeks ago near Linville Falls. Forty-eight year old Dean Anthony Yelton was left by a friend on July 31st near off NC 105 near Linville Falls. A friend dropped Yelton off along with camping and hiking equipment. Yelton, born in Mitchell County, was most recently living in Marion. He is described as being 5’7″ and 200 pounds with brown hair and blue eyes. The Burke County Sheriff’s Department would like anyone with any information to call 828-438-5500. Deputies said, “The Burke County Sheriff’s Office would like to verify that Mr. Yelton is okay and his current where-abouts.”
