Advent Health hopes to build a new 67 bed hospital in northern Buncombe County. They sought support for a new hospital from the Yancey County Commissioners at the recent commissioners’ meeting. The hospital will serve Buncombe, Madison and Yancey counties. Plans include a trauma center with advanced medical staff and equipment. They are currently looking at 4 or 5 locations to find 30 acres that would be suitable for the facility. Advent Health has 40 medical sites in Western North Carolina. They would like to add pediatrics and OBGYN to the new service areas if their proposal is approved. Advent Health will submit their proposal on June 15th.
