Celebrate Tourism Week in Mitchell County: May 19 to May 25, 2024

Mitchell County is gearing up to celebrate Tourism Week from May 19 to May 25, 2024, showcasing the vibrant attractions, rich culture, and warm hospitality that make the county a must-visit destination for travelers from near and far. Tourism Week provides an opportunity to recognize the significant contributions of tourism to our local economy, while also highlighting the diverse experiences and hidden gems that make Mitchell County a unique and unforgettable destination for visitors of all ages.

Throughout the week, residents and visitors alike are invited to participate in a variety of special events, activities, and promotions organized by the Mitchell County Tourism Board and its partners. “We are thrilled to celebrate Tourism Week in Mitchell County and showcase the many reasons why our community is a standout destination,” said Director of the TDA Board, Kelly Jones. ”Tourism plays a vital role in our local economy, supporting businesses, creating jobs, and enriching the overall quality of life for residents. This week is our chance to say thank you to everyone who contributes to making Mitchell County such a welcoming and memorable place to visit.”

Highlights of Tourism Week in Mitchell County include:

• Community Clean Up Day: Kick off Tourism Week with a community-wide clean up day. Beginning at 8am on May 20th, teams will meet throughout the county to clean local hiking trails and public spaces.

• Short Term Rental Meet and Greet: Short term rental owners are invited to Spruce Pine or Bakersville to meet the current TDA Director and Board on May 23rd. During this time there will be Q+A and networking. Light refreshments will be served.

• Tourism Appreciation Day: If you work in the tourism industry, you are invited from 8am until 10am for an appreciation breakfast on May 24th.
