AdventHealth Purchases Land For Hospital in Weaverville

AdventHealth has announced the location of its new hospital will be in Weaverville. The property located off US 25/70 west of I-26, will be home to the multispecialty hospital.  AdventHealth received approval to build through the State’s Certificate of Need application process in 2022. HCA Healthcare, Novant Health and AdventHealth all applied to build the 67-bed hospital to serve Buncombe, Graham, Madison and Yancey counties. The State approved AdventHealth’s application.  However, HCA/Mission appealed the decision leading to a trial in the fall of 2023. The Administrative Judge is expected to make his decision in that trial in the next few weeks. The location was originally set to be in the Enka-Candler community but has been changed to the Weaverville area. The NC State Medical Facilities Plan outlined the importance of improving access to care for the citizens of the four counties in the designated service area. As AdventHealth worked to finalize the location, they outlined the importance of not duplicating services in an area that already has coverage and they wanted to ensure the location would increase access where there currently is no coverage. Weaverville was determined to be most effective geographical location for the multi-county service area. The 25 acre campus will be off Ollie Weaver Road next to the Southern Concrete plant.

Brandon Nudd, President and Chief Executive Officer for AdventHealth Hendersonville.  said, “I am happy to be able to share where we will be building our new hospital. We are ready to bring state-of-the-art medical services, leading-edge technology, and a team of skilled health care professionals to provide whole-person care – body, mind and spirit to the people living in and near this area. With the purchase of the property in Weaverville, we are ready to move forward building this hospital”.

The new AdventHealth hospital will be a community hospital with in-patient, surgical, labor and delivery, and emergency care. The hospital will include the following services:

  • The Baby Place – Labor and Delivery Unit featuring 13 beds and a dedicated C-section Surgery Suite
  • 42 Medical/Surgical Beds
