Newborn Kits Donated

For Youth Service Month 2024: April 12 – May 12, the Relief Society and the youth of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Western North Carolina teamed up to donate 72 newborn kits to the Abiding Hope Pregnancy Center.
The women of the Relief Society gathered supplies for the kits over the course of the last month from congregations in Asheville, Arden, Brevard, Cherokee, Forest City, Franklin, Hendersonville, Marion, Waynesville, and Weaverville. (Together, these congregations are known as the Asheville North Carolina Stake, a regional grouping similar in size and purpose to a Catholic or Episcopal diocese.) This past Saturday, youth from the same congregations gathered to assemble the kits so that they can be delivered to the Abiding Hope Pregnancy Center before Global Youth Service Day on April 26-28. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints encourages its members to participate in community service regularly, and seeks to facilitate volunteer work in the wider community by running a free website and app called JustServe.org. People looking for volunteer opportunities may simply type in their zip code there to find projects nearby. And organizations seeking volunteers can create and administer projects for free through the same service.
