Johnny Wayne Hoilman, 52, 430 Misty Ridge Rd. Burnsville, NC. Deputy D. LaPlante arrested Hoilman for 2 counts of misdemeanor assault on a female, assault by pointing a gun and communicating threats. New Executive Orders Last Week

Late last week NC Governor Roy Cooper announced Executive Order 135. The new order means no changes until May 8th for restaurants or other businesses or the public with the Stay at Home Orders. The new order lays out a 3 phase plan of change for the state. Moving from one phase to the next will be based on specific numbers of improvement that calculate a decrease in the spread of COVID-19. Remote Learning Continues for Schools

Gov. Roy Cooper, along with state Superintendent of Public Instruction Mark Johnson and N.C. State Board of Education Chairman Eric Davis, announced the decision to continue remote learning for the rest of  the 2019-2020 school year at K-12 public schools. Self Employed – Unemployment Situation

Hair dressers and other self-employed workers have struggled to register for unemployment. Changes have been made and should go in effect today. The problem is the State’s Division of Employment Security’s online form for unemployment was not built to handle self-employed requests until now.
