Town of Spruce Pine Adopts New Debt Collection Program

The Town of Spruce Pine has adopted a new program that will help them to collect unpaid tax and utility bills. The Local Government Debt Setoff program is through the NC Department of Revenue. Section of Highway Renamed to Honor Former Sheriff

The NC Board of Transportation has approved the naming of a section of Hwy 19E in honor of the late Sheriff Donald Banks. The section to be renamed is on Hwy 19 between Cane River School Road and the West Yancey Fire Department. It will be named Sheriff Donald Banks Highway. Spruce Pine Woman Killed in I-26 Accident

Details of the I-26 collision on December 6th that killed a Spruce Pine woman have now been released by officials.  N.C. Highway Patrol Master Trooper Murico L.
